Angelo James, Jr. is the Director of Human Performance and Physical Wellness at Madison Academy. Coach James brings extensive experience to MA, having served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for over 7 years at the Division I college level, including the University of Tennessee, University of South Carolina, and Mississippi State University. Prior to his time in the SEC, he was Director of the strength and conditioning program at Bryant University, where he directed programs for athletes on 17 different Division I teams. He is currently working with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in their strength and conditioning department.
Coach James has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Health, Human, and Sport Performance from Wayne State College, where he played football. He is certified by the NSCA.
In addition to his responsibilities working with MA student-athletes, he also directs the Physical Wellness curriculum which is open to all MA middle and high school students, designed to educate students in fitness for their lifetime.
Madison Academy opened a new 6,000+ sq ft fitness facility in 2017, which is the center of the fitness programs for the school and its athletic programs.
